Synergy between Synthetic and Microbial Herbicides for Weed Control
نویسندگان
چکیده
Synthetic herbicides have been investigated as tools to synergize mycoherbicides (fungal bioherbicides) for improved efficacy or management of hard-to-control weed problems. Herbicides may weaken weeds and impair their defence systems, thus making weeds more vulnerable to mycoherbicide infection. Despite many positive results, the practical value of synergy remains elusive. This review will discuss several fundamental aspects of synergy relating to development of this technology based on author’s own experiences in biocontrol of green foxtail and scentless chamomile. These include application timing, dose effect, weed growth stage, and spray retention efficiency. Issues relating to the practicality, non-target risks, and cost of weed control are stumbling blocks to the adoption of synergistic technologies, and some tactics are proposed to address these challenges. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Microbial Weed Control and Microbial Herbicides
Microbial weed control represents an innovative means to manage troublesome weeds and utilize the naturally occurring biological herbicides produced by soil microorganisms. These compounds kill or hinder the growth of weeds so that beneficial plant species can gain a competitive advantage. The vast diversity of microorganisms in our environment is largely untapped, and the potential discovery a...

This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of different herbicides options for weed control in chickpea and their residual effect on bread wheat performance in crop rotation under rainfed conditions. The experimental design was randomized complete block with four replications conducted in Mahidasht Agricultural Research Center located in Kermanshah province, Iran during 2018-2019 and ...
متن کاملAlternatives to Synthetic Herbicides for Weed Management in Container Nurseries1
tion and fertilization rates create a favorable environment for weed growth in addition to crop growth. Weeds can quickly out-compete the crop for light and other resources, reducing the rate and amount of crop growth as well as salability (Berchielli-Robertson et al., 1990; Norcini and Stamps, 1992). Weed management in nursery production is most effectively achieved by preventative practices, ...

Field experiments were conducted during 2017 and 2018 to evaluate the efficacy of herbicides NICOSULFURON and EPTC alone or in combination with seed priming on weed control and corn yield. NICOSULFURON (80 g a.i. ha‒1) was applied at four- to six-leaf stage of corn as post-emergence and EPTC (4920 g a.i. ha‒1) applied as pre-plant incorporation (PPI). Among the herbicide treatments, the lowest ...

Registered dose of herbicides may be higher than rate required for controlling weed species depending on growth stages. In order to study the effect of individual post-emergence application of 2,4-D plus MCPA and three sulfonylurea herbicides at four- to six-true leaf stage of weeds, experiments were conducted in 2011 at the greenhouse of Agricultural Faculty of Ferdowsi University of Mashh...
